Father of the family and founder of the roastery. Spent his early years in Turkey before moving to Stockholm and becoming a serial entrepreneur. After a brief burnout, he started directing his time more toward his true passions – beekeeping and coffee. He researched, studied and inhaled all the information he could find on either topic and finally, the dream of Black Honey Coffee Roasters was born.
Murat’s eldest son, co-founder and head chef. Trained and worked with some of Stockholm’s most prominent chefs. At the roastery, he’ll be spearheading his own kitchen for the first time. He’s passionate about creating a fair work culture, which he sees rarely in the restaurant industry. And that same passion applies to coffee – fair trade and representation of the coffee farmers is matter close to his heart.
Murat’s youngest son, co-founder and Café Manager. Working as a truck driver in the transport and logistics industry, coffee came to be a pretty huge part of his day-to-day – to say the least. Through his father he learned about the art and science of it all. The background, the process and the aromas. He started tagging along on Murat’s research trips around Europe. Soon he was just as mad about the brew as his dad.
Cappuccino or pure black, preferably made from sweet and fruity beans.
Moved from Istanbul just for us. Went from being a master bartender to a master barista before finding his life passion – roasting coffee. To him, roasting is about giving the beans life, which is a big responsibility; it’s up to him to do the coffee farmers justice by roasting their product in the best possible way.
Anything that’s made from beans that have been naturally fermented beans – under the sun, without removing the cherry.
